I’m 19 today. Ugh.. I feel so old! Anyway this is just a little post to say that I won’t be around until Thursday. I’m going to stay at Ewan’s for a few days. I’ll return comments from the last blog and do a proper birthday blog when I get back. Hope you guys have a nice few days!

We’re All Going On A Summer Holiday

In August Ewan & I went on holiday with my parents. We were staying in Swindon, but also visited Oxford and Bath. It was an … interesting holiday to say the least. I think rather than boring you with long paragraphs I’m going to bullet point some of the more interesting parts, and then show you some photos at the end. Enjoy!

The bus journey down took over 9 hours! There was no bathroom on the bus and the man behind us kept humming. I think I was going to crack up after about 4 hours.

We were the youngest there by at least 30 years. Seriously.

We had a queen sized bed in our room which was amazing! Our view, however, was not so amazing. It looked onto a car park on a roof and one night a bunch of teenagers got onto the roof and had some form of party. We were tempted to jump onto the roof and join them.

I managed to get locked out of the room in my jammies. Ewan thought he had lost his jacket so went down to reception to see if they had found it. I spotted it once he left so ran out to tell him. I then realised I had forgotten the key so ran to my parents room and asked them to go get me a spare key whilst I hid

The couple in the room next to us ended up banging the wall because we were being too loud (you can work out for yourself what I mean here ). One of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Ever.

Ewan got a hold of one of those do not disturb signs and hung it on the door since the cleaners were coming round and well, y’know we weren’t in a position to be disturbed . Anyway, my Mum came down to our room and saw the sign. Another very cringey moment!

The hotel staff thought we were married! They kept calling us Mr and Mrs Gibb (note Ewan’s second name is actually Gibbs my Dad got it wrong when he booked the room).

We walked all round Swindon’s town centre in the rain one day trying to find a pub. We couldn’t find a single one!

On one occasion we had chocolate cake at about 11 in the morning, and then fudge cake at dinner that night. That was a good day!

I had a bath one night before dinner and was sitting about in my dressing gown drying my hair when the fire alarm went off! I honestly thought I was going to have to go outside in just my dressing gown. Luckily it was just a false alarm.

Breakfast was at 8 every morning so I had to get up around 6 to have a shower etc. One morning when I got out of bed Ewan sat up, whilst still asleep, and glared right at me before turning round and curling up in a ball. One of the most amusing things I’ve ever seen.

There was so little selection that I ended up buying John a London bus bank from Oxford as his present! Ewan and my Mum mocked me for this but John loved it.

I Call It Love

I hope you guys aren’t too bored of seeing meme’s yet. I like to keep a nice balance between posts about my life, ranting posts and posts that are just for good fun. So here’s another meme from Brandi’s blog.

This meme asks you to share photos of things from your childhood. Feel free to do this if you like.

I loved Disney Channel when I was younger. These were the good old days before the likes of Hannah Montana. Recess was one of my favourite shows. Others included Pepper Ann, The Weekenders and Lizzie McGuire.

Another thing I loved when I was younger was Pokémon. I had all of the games, posters etc. My first ‘crush’ was on Ash. And my favourite Pokémon was Jigglypuff.

No one remembers double cream bars now but they were my favourite type of chocolate.

The Spice Girls were my favourite group! I remember getting a CD player and one of their CD’s for my 7th birthday. I loved Spice World too.

I loved stick on earrings! I never got my ears pierced until I was 14 so I wore these a lot!

The Sleepover Club series were my favourite books.

Toys were awesome when I was younger. My favourite was my furby but I also loved Polly Pockets and tamagotchis.

There were so many good movies when I was growing up. One of my favourites is The Nightmare Before Christmas. Others include Titanic and The Santa Clause.

Money, Money, Money

As I’m sure you have worked out by now I’m a student. And a poor one at that. I’m from Scotland and here our University fees and the likes are dealt with by SAAS (Student Awards Agency for Scotland). As far as I’m concerned my fees are paid for me and I’m given a loan. It is this I wish to blog about today.

My parents earnings full into a certain category which means I am not entitled to a bursary. My family and I are by no means rich. My parents do not turn round and give me money each month to provide for my travel, University supplies etc. They cannot afford to do so. As a result I was forced to take a loan to fund for my academic life. Essentially I was forced to put myself into debt at not even 20 years of age because I had no other option.

It’s a scary thought to know I’m already in debt. A lot of people question me about why I took a loan out. As I said above I had no choice. Just because my parents fall into a certain category does not mean they are able to just give me money. The current state of the economy makes it more difficult for students to get a job so I have no money coming from there either.

I do believe that some people need more money than others. I am not disputing this fact. I am saying that I believe all University students deserve some sort of bursary. I understand this is probably not possible but in an ideal world this would make things easier. It scares me to even thing how much money I will have to pay back years down the line.

I could write a long post explaining how sorry I am for my absence and what not but if I’m honest I needed a break from all this. Anyway I’m back now and want to blog properly rather than dedicate a blog to apologising.
